Legislative Key Contact Program
Share |

Are you interested in impacting the policy process and improving the Wisconsin Public Health Association and the Wisconsin Association of Local Health Departments and Boards (WPHA/WALHDAB)? By participating in the WPHA/WALHDAB Key Contact program, you have the opportunity to develop relationships with legislators and promote the organization through advocacy at the state level.

The WPHA/WALHDAB Key Contact Program is a strategic grassroots advocacy program designed to help the organization build strong, on-going relationships with legislators across the state. The program allows the organization to identify members who would either like to develop a new relationship with a legislator or grow an existing relationship in order to create an awareness of the organization and assist WPHA/WALHDAB in achieving their advocacy goals.

The Key Contact program also provides the organization with a list of members who are knowledgeable in specific issue areas and are willing to participate in advocacy activities.

The WPHA/WALHDAB Key Contacts need to be committed advocates who are willing and available to participate as leaders in the WPHA/WALHDAB advocacy program. Typically, a Key Contact is someone who:

·         Has a desire to become engaged in the legislative process;

·         Has an established or is willing to establish a relationship with a state legislator;

·         Has a comfort level engaging in advocacy activities; and/or

·         Has an understanding of the legislative process and how it can impact the WPHA/WALHDAB community
