WPHA Racial Equity Assessment Update & Report Now Available

As one of the steps following WPHA passing the 2018 Resolution that Racism is a Public Health Crisis, we committed to conducting an organizational assessment of internal policies and procedures to ensure racial equity is a core element of WPHA.  UBUNTU Research & Evaluation has now completed Racial Equity Assessment of WPHA after a six month engagement.  This process included content analysis of the WPHA website and organizational communications, key informant interviews, and a membership survey. UBUNTU Research & Evaluation shared a summary of the initial findings with the WPHA Board of Directors in December and a full report with the WPHA Board and Leadership in mid-January. WPHA leadership is committed to transparency and pleased to share the report compiled by UBUNTU Research and Evaluation with all of you. Thanks to UBUNTU Research and Evaluation for their commitment and partnership in this work!

WPHA leadership is working through next steps and knows that this will be a multi-year process which requires membership engagement.  We intend to actively involve our Racial Equity Workgroup and wider membership in the process of developing an action plan. This will start with prioritizing our plans based on the recommendations in the Racial Equity Assessment. We were able to initially review the report at a high level with the WPHA Leadership Team (Board members, Section and Committee Chairs) in attendance at the 2020 Leadership Retreat held last week in Oshkosh. We are excited to provide an overview of the process, report, and an opportunity to collect feedback and suggestions from all of you, our members, through a webinar presentation. We want this process to be collective and member-owned. Please know this will not be the only opportunity to provide feedback - but a first opportunity. If you are interested in more background, please go to our Racism Declaration page.

Please join us for an informational and conversational webinar held on February 28th at 12 p.m. facilitated by President-Elect, Robin Lankton. Registration is required by clicking here!
