The 2019 Public Health in Practice (PHiP) Conference was held August 6-7, 2019 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center in Stevens Point, WI.  Day 1 kicked off with three excellent pre-conference sessions.  The first focused on the Public Health Residency Program, the second was Evaluation for the Non-evaluators and the third focused on communicating with policymakers.  Day 2 included excellent keynote presentations by Joan Theurer, RN, MSN, Health Officer,Marathon County Health Department and a panel of Marathon County Health Department Community Partners discussing the stories, challenges and successes of moving public health into the Public Health 3.0 Era. WPHA was also very pleased to feature Michelle Spencer, MS, Associate Director
Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Associate Scientist, Department of Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as our second keynote presenter.  Michelle inspired attendees to build leadership and to be mindful that education, research, policy, and action, are the tools available to public health to address major health challenges facing the United States and save lives.

Day 2 was rounded out by breakout presentations featuring the great work being done in WI, awards presentations, networking, as well as the PHN and Health Promotion Section Meetings! Thank you to all those who were able to make it to Stevens Point. WPHA leadership was pleased to see such a warm reception to the conference that was grown from the foundation of the previously held Public Health Nursing Conference.  With over 125 attendees, the PHiP conference was a great success!

WPHA hopes that you left feeling recharged, energized and having more resources to do all you can to improve public health in your local community and throughout WI! Don't forget to check out the WPHA Member Directory if you need to find someone you met at the Conference!
