David Pluymers, WPHA President-Elect was able to attend the APHA President-Elect meeting earlier this week in Washington, DC, representing WI. He was able to join with almost 30 other President-Elects across the country - partake in various meetings as well as participate in Capitol Hill Visits! Thanks David for representing us!

Above are some photos from yesterday’s [7/16/19] Capitol Hill Visits while at the APHA Presidents-Elect and Section Chairs-Elect meeting in Washington, DC.

For the visits to Senators Tammy Baldwin’s and Ron Johnson’s offices, Dave Pluymers was joined by Margaret Marcou and Shirley Leung who were concurrently attending APHA’s Speak for Health Advocacy Bootcamp.  According to APHA’s website, “APHA's Speak for Health initiative in Washington, D.C., is a two-day bootcamp training tailored to public health students and early-career professionals on how to be an effective public health advocate.”  Shirley was attending from Waukesha and Margaret from Madison.

In the photos above, Leslie Zelenko was the Senior Legislative Assistant for Representative Mark Pocan and Michael Weiss was Senator Ron Johnson’s Legislative Assistant for Child/Family Issues.
