Hello WPHA Climate and Health Section Members,

We’re hoping to see you all next week at the WPHA Annual Conference. Don’t forget, we have a section meeting on Wednesday, May 22nd from 12-1pm in Tundra ABC.

In anticipation of that meeting, we wanted to share with you the meeting agenda. We also wanted to give you a heads up that we are currently looking for a Climate and Health Section Co-Chair for the 2019 year to work with me, Colleen Moran, to lead the Section. This is an appointed position to serve in a leadership capacity within the Association, but does not require a lot of extra work!

We have outlined some of the roles and responsibilities below – which you would work on all of these with me as your co-chair! As a section, our purpose statement is to develop and foster a formal Climate and Health Network through outreach, education/training, and capacity building to address climate change adaptation and mitigation issues in Wisconsin. We need a leader like you to work with us to continue working on Climate and Health issues! If you have any questions, please contact me or Jessica LeClair, current Co-Chairs, or come and learn more at our section meeting next week!

As a co-chair your responsibilities would include the following:

  • Board and leadership members participate in board orientation and leadership retreat at the start of the year and the summer meeting dedicated to planning and review)
  • Recommend sections develop leadership succession plans and identify alternating co-chairs
  • Share information with members through webinar, conference breakout, social media or news story
  • Provide subject expertise for WPHA policy and public information
  • Convene member meetings (online or in-person) to engage members
  • Share section members’ interests with the board; and during annual planning
  • Contact new members interested in the section
  • Contact non-renewals of WPHA and/or those who had been members of the section

Please let me or Jessica know if you have any questions. Hope to see you all next week!
