Submission Details:
Final selections
 will be based on the quality and clarity of the abstract, as well as relevance of the described content to the overall conference theme. 

Presentation topics of particular interest related to each of the conference objectives include:

  • Identify your responsibility for incorporating an equity lens in your public health practice.
    •  Abstract suggestions for this objective:
      • Workforce development from an individual and organizational perspective
      • Address structural racism
      • Public health core competencies
      • Policy development
  • Examine the impact of place on individual and population health outcomes.
    • Abstract suggestions for this objective:
      • Improving access to opportunities
      • Rural/urban health issues
      • Social determinants of health
      • Inclusiveness, justice, equality
      • Environmental health
      • Planning 
  • Discover approaches to promote the value of prevention.
    • Abstract suggestions for this objective:
      • Substance abuse
      • Showing return on investment
      • Talking with elected officials/decision makers
      • Mental health
      • Oral health 

Submission Deadline: 
Abstracts must be submitted electronically by November 17, 2017. Late or manual submissions will not be reviewed. 

Abstract guidelines:

  • Abstracts must be submitted electronically, using the Presentation Submission form below.  WPHA members, log-in to be able to save your submission as it is being developed.
  • The content described in the abstract must be appropriate for a 30- to 60-minute oral presentation (including question and answer period). Abstract reviewers will make final determination regarding format.
  • Abstracts must include 2-3 learning objectives for your presentation. 
  • Presenter biosketch(es) must be provided as part of the submission process.  Biosketches are not required for any contributors who will not be presenting.  PLEASE NOTE:  Presenters applying for 30 minute presentations can have no more than 1 presenter for their session.  
  • You and your co-presenters do not need to be WPHA or WALHDAB members to submit an abstract. However, if your abstract is accepted for presentation, you MUST register for the Conference. Submission of an abstract implies a commitment to make the presentation at the annual meeting. 
  • All notifications regarding abstract status will be done through email. Please make sure your email address and the email addresses of your co-presenters are correct.
