NPHW is one month away!

We’re excited for NPHW 2018, and we hope you are, too.  As we come closer to our favorite week of the year, it’s time to get ready for the celebration!  We always look forward to the engaging conversations, community-hosted events, and of course, all of the #NPHW tweets and Instagram posts!

In order to achieve our goal of becoming the Healthiest Nation in One Generation by 2030, NPHW 2018 will focus on five unique and pressing areas that impact our health.  This year our daily themes are:

Monday: Behavioral Health

Tuesday: Communicable Diseases

 Wednesday: Environmental Health

 Thursday: Injury and Violence Prevention

 Friday: Ensuring the Right to Health

NPHW Events

  • NPHW Forum – The U.S. Surgeon General will be our keynote speaker. Sign up to view the webcast.
  • NPHW Student Day – Students will get to hear about the future of public health from APHA Executive Director Georges C. Benjamin, MD and Dr. Lynn Goldman, Dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health
  • NPHW Twitter Chat – Join us for the eighth annual Twitter chat, featuring @PublicHealth, @NPHW and other partners, RSVP to participate.

  • Mental health disorders are predicted to be the second leading cause of disability throughout the world by 2020.[i]
  • Climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 deaths per year as a result of malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea and heat stress between 2030 and 2050.[ii]
  • Outdoor air pollution is estimated to have caused 3 million premature deaths worldwide in 2012.[iii]
