2017 Policy Resolutions

The Governing Council will consider 21 policy resolutions at the annual conference in November. Here is a list of the resolutions by topic area. In making my decisions, I consider input from the Board, Section Chairs and members, as well as from members of the Great Lakes Public Health Coalition.  If you have any questions about this process or would like to review a particular resolution, please let me know.

 2017 PHACT Campaign

Many thanks to all of you who contacted your Congressional representatives during the PHACT Campaign in August and September.  A shout-out to the Retirees Section; five of the members contacted their representatives about funding for public health programs, funding for the ACA Prevention and Public Health fund, funding the ACA to ensure accessible health care, supporting climate change and health, and spending for CDC.  Others also advocated for the ACA.  Despite the cancelled vote this week, there is much work for us to do related to the ACA and other proposals.  There is also a renewed call for a bipartisan effort.

Great Lakes Public Health Coalition Collaborative Initiative

The GLPHC collaborative project is a three-part webinar series focused on climate change and health intended for affiliate members and their local partners.  Two new topic areas include legal implications and risk communication.  Stay tuned for information about speakers and the schedule.
