Save the Date for the American Public Health Association 2012 Midyear Meeting
1/23/2012
Building on the success of our Midyear Meeting in June 2011, the American Public Health Association will once again bring together public health professionals to address the opportunities and challenges of today's public health system. Mark your calendar for
The New Public Health - Rewiring for the Future,
June 26-28 in Charlotte, NC.
The public health system delivers essential services that protect the health of communities and brings enormous value to creating a healthy nation. But the public health system is confronting a crisis: declining budgets, more demands, an aging and shrinking workforce and a lack of understanding of the role of public health by the public, opinion leaders and policy-makers. We must come together to discuss the changing needs and demands in an effort to face these issues and seize new opportunities.
Topics discussed will include:
innovative programs
workforce development
health information technology
new funding strategies
public health messaging
integration with primary care
partnership opportunities
Attendees will leave the APHA Midyear Meeting with the educational, policy and advocacy tools needed for keeping up with and anticipating the changes that will be necessary to "rewire" the public health infrastructure.
Registration and Housing will open on February 22
. Discounted hotel rooms will be available with a negotiated hotel. Details will be available in early February.
