Wellness Program Could Save the State $9.4m

The Governor's Waste, Fraud & Abuse Commission final report released this week considers value and cost savings from statewide wellness program for state employees.
The report includes a recommendation the state create a Statewide Wellness Program (beginning on pgae 77 of report). The report further suggests that creating a statewide employee wellness program (for public employees) could save the state $9.4 million per year. They recommend that the Group Insurance Board design and adopt a wellness program as part of the uniform benefits package for state employees.
